WHO WE ARE

Bruce K. Brown,
Owner, Breeder, Trainer
Bruce was born and raised on a farm in rural Ontario’s Medonte Township. Animals have always been a significant part of his life. Normally dangerous situations for a five year old boy like petting the ram or picking up baby lambs, piglets, chick’s, ducklings and talking to new born calves never seemed to upset any of the animal Mothers. His own Mother may have been upset once or twice though. His ability to make friends with most any animal has never changed only grown to a life’s passion.
Having a pure bred dog was a life long dream that finally came true in early 1999. After months of reading and research he found the right match in now friend and mentor Louise Grant of Maltcairn Kennels, in Orillia. Louise saw the “spark” and asked if he would consider a co-ownership of (now champion) Maltcairn’s Digby Shines. Bruce agreed, thus opening the chapters of raising, showing, training and so much more that has followed. Introduction to other Golden people soon followed and so did other puppies to bring together foundation stock for Goldnote Goldens from Karin Klouman of Kyon Kennels, Linda Willard of Highmark Golden Retrievers in the USA and Certified Professional Handler Colin Brownlee of Barrie.
Now more than ten years later Goldnote has a growing number of very happy companion dogs across Canada as well as the United States with several Champions in our ranks. Proudly we have numerous Best of Breed and Group Placements to our credit. Special mention must be given to Nora T. Saulnier of Nova Scotia for her dedication to Champion Goldnote’s Don Giovanni “Juan” Pedigree Link in making him Goldnote’s all breed Best in Show winner.
After years of waiting and searching we have made our move to the country onto twenty-one acres of perfect dog space not far from Barrie. With months of renovations to a very old farm house completed the dogs and I will be making “Dogwood Farm” our home for many years to come. Plans for a fully modern boarding kennel and training hall are also underway and to be completed in the fall of 2009.
